FUJITOのブランドスタート20周年を記念して作られた、コートラック「スピンドル」。デザインは10周年の「シュースツール」同様、デザイナー藤戸の旧知の中である空間・プロダクトデザイナーの二俣公一氏。御影石のたっぷりとしたベースからスチールの棒が伸び、先端は丸く円盤のような木製パーツで締めくくられる独特の意匠。コートなど衣類をかけるとゆっくりと揺れる様がなんとも愛おしい。

「洋服にまつわるプロダクトを」との藤戸氏との会話の中で、「石を使ったらどうかな？」という彼からの言葉が、このデザインのスタートでした。その後、色々な妄想をする中、川石のようなコロンとしたした石が、藤戸氏の自然体で片意地を張らない生き方や服づくりにぴったりな気がしたんです。そんな石の重量感や安定感、そして丸みや滑らかさを有りのまま活かすと共に、私の妄想は自然と、ゆらゆらと揺れるこのSPINDLEの姿へと行き着きました。（二俣公一）

The “Spindle” coat hook is created for the 20th anniversary of FUJITO’s brand launch. Like the 10th anniversary of FUJITO “Shoe Stool”, it was also designed by Koichi Futatsumata, a celebrated designer, who specializes in product design, architectures and interiors, and both Fujito a designer of FUJITO and Futatsumata have been old friends for more than decades.
“The unique design consists of a steel rod extending from a generous granite base, and a round, disk-like wooden part at the end completes the unique design. When you hang a coat or other item of clothing on it, the way it slowly swings is quite endearing.

The idea of the product came up from our daily small talk about how to create a product related to clothing, then Fujito suggested “ How about using natural materials like a stone ?” That was the starting point of the process of the product.”
After that, I led and drifted my thoughts to the product, and was inspired by a rounded stone like a river stone that would be perfect for Fujito's natural and laid-back lifestyle, and his flexible mindset, and needless to say of course for his design philosophy for clothing. My fantasy naturally led me to this SPINDLE, which swayed and swayed, while utilizing the weight, stability, roundness, and smoothness of the stone as it is.
